The word psychotherapy might sound formal, clinical, or even intimidating, but it’s a style of therapy that looks closely at your experiences, patterns, relationships, and the ways you have to learn to move through the world. Working together, we will explore how these patterns, your thoughts, emotions, and choices, and consider whether they are still serving you.
You don’t need to know exactly what you need before beginning therapy. We can start with what is happening right now and work from there.
What is psychotherapy?
I draw from several therapeutic approaches, including psychoanalysis, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I do not lead with a diagnosis. If/ when a diagnosis is useful, it can provide language, direction, or access to resources. Otherwise, our work is about understanding who you are, how you have learned to move through the world, and what you want to do differently.
I value the uniqueness of each person I work with and remain open and curious about the experiences that shape us, including race, culture, ethnicity, sexuality, family, faith, and other aspects of life that shape who we are and how we navigate the world.
