Hi, I’m Charla
pronounced SHAR-luh
For more than fourteen years, I have had the privilege of listening to people’s stories, sitting with them through difficult times, and trying to understand the world from their point of view.
Those experiences have taught me that people are rarely as simple as our assumptions. More often than not, layers lie beneath the surface. Layers that, if we remain curious, can help us understand not only who someone is, but how they came to be.
This is the curiosity I try to bring into therapy. My goal is to be warm and conversational, but I’m also direct. I ask questions. I notice patterns. I’m comfortable sitting with uncertainty. And I’m much more interested in understanding how something makes sense to you than quickly deciding what it means.
I take the work seriously, but I don’t believe we have to be overly serious while we do it.
Beyond work, I’m a mom, wife, fan of all things Bravo, and I take ballet classes. I love cuss words and being barefoot. I’m a little unconventional. But my absolute favorite thing is good conversation with people who are willing to be fully themselves.
Meet Owen
Owen, my family’s miniature poodle, sometimes joins me in the office. He’s usually happiest taking a nap in my lap throughout sessions.
